Puducherry, Dec 19 : Dr S Mohan, Professor in IIT Madras has been appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor of the Puducherry Technological University (PTU).
It may be noted that the Pondicherry Engineering college was upgraded into a technological university recently and the process for appointing the first Vice Chancellor was started.
Meanwhile, Lt.Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan shortlisted the applicants and selected Prof Mohan for the post of Vice Chancellor.
He will be in the post for five years.
Hailing from Thanjavur, Dr Mohan joined the IIT in 1987 as a lecturer and became a Professor in 1991.(UNI)
