HYDRA demolition controversy: KTR backs the Buchamma family
HYDERABAD, OCT 28 :Former Minister and BRS working President K T Rama Rao (KTR) has expressed strong support for the family of Buchamma, a resident of Yadava Basti in Kukatpally, who allegedly took her life following the threat of her home being demolished by the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency( HYDRA).
Speaking to the media, KTR refuted the claim that Buchamma’s death was a suicide, stating, “This is not a suicide. It’s murder by Revanth Reddy’s administration, using HYDRA to create a climate of fear among the poor.”
He criticized recent demolition activities in Kukatpally, claiming that homes were destroyed without warning or valid reason, creating distress among residents. He shared that Buchamma’s family built their home for their children’s future, only to have it threatened by alleged intimidation tactics from HYDRA, KTR accused of working under the Congress-led government’s orders
In a heartfelt recount, KTR noted that Buchamma spent three days in fear over her home demolition, leading to her tragic decision. He condemned the demolitions, highlighting that a young girl, Vedashree, was left crying after her family’s home was torn down, with no time to gather her books and belongings. “Are there laws only for the poor in this state?” KTR questioned, emphasizing that such actions are not seen in affluent areas or among high-ranking officials.
KTR further alleged that HYDRA, operating under the Congress government, is targeting the homes of the poor while benefiting from financial ties with big builders.
He demanded accountability from Congress leader Revanth Reddy, insisting that he bear responsibility for HYDRA’s actions.
KTR assured that BRS stands with all HYDRA victims, pledging financial assistance and legal support to Buchamma’s family and others affected.
He called on Hyderabad residents to resist the current government’s oppressive actions and promised that BRS representatives would continue to support the poor in their struggles against injustice.
