Hyderabad, April 24: YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) President YS Sharmila was arrested on Monday at her party office in Lotus Pond, Jubilee Hills, while trying to proceed to the SIT office to submit a memorandum regarding the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) exam paper leakage issue.
Despite police not allowing her to leave her house, Sharmila held a dharna by sitting on the road in protest. As the situation became tense, the police arrested her and shifted her to Jubilee Hills Police Station.
It may be noted here that Sharmila had obtained permission from the High Court to hold a dharna at Indira Park in Hyderabad on April 26, protesting against the TSPSC exam paper leakage and demanding a CBI probe into it.
According to West Zone DCP, police tried to stop Sharmila when she was heading to the SIT office without proper permission.
In the process, she pushed a Sub-Inspector and a lady constable who were attempting to stop her. Action will be taken if the police lodge a complaint against her, he added.
City Police Commissioner C V Anand also commented on the situation, saying that there was information that Sharmila was planning to go to the secretariat instead of the SIT office, which is why they were alerted in advance. Anand made it clear that they will proceed in Sharmila’s case based on the complaint lodged by the police.(UNI)
