Hyderabad Police apprehends two criminals following a decoy operation.
HYDERABAD, JULY 12 : Hyderabad city police conducted decoy operations and disarming drills in crime-prone areas to control property and bodily offences during nighttime.
A police statement on Friday said, on Thursday midnight around 0010 hours, a Central Zone decoy team comprising one Armed Reserve Police Constable (ARPC) and one Civil Police Constable was operating at Nampally Railway Station. They noticed two individuals acting suspiciously near Ghouse e-Pak Chilla.
Upon searching, one suspect was found hiding an axe under his shirt. When questioned, the suspect attempted to attack the police with the axe while the other began pelting stones at them.
The police warned the suspects to surrender, but they continued to advance. In self-defence, the ARPC fired at the axe-wielding suspect, injuring him in the right thigh. The injured suspect, identified as Raju (19) was taken to Osmania General Hospital (OGH) for treatment. The second suspect, identified as Mohd Khaja alias Ayaan(19), fled but was later apprehended.
The suspects confessed to pickpocketing money and mobile phones from sleeping individuals, including stealing Rs. 400 from a person near Exhibition Grounds, Nampally.
A case has been registered under appropriate sections of the law, and the suspects will be produced before the court.(UNI)
