Hyd: GITAM hosts a two-day international conference on “contemporary issues in ESG.”
HYDERABAD, FEB 16 : The two-day International Conference on ‘Contemporary Issues in Environment, Social, and Governance’ (ESG), began at GITAM School of Business here on Friday.
In his keynote address, Teresa Jacobs, Executive Director of ISDC, UK, stressed the individual responsibility in ESG and the power of governance principles.
Organized by the Department of Accounting, the conference was held in association with the International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) and supported by NABARD.
The conference aimed to raise awareness about the importance of ESG and its impact on the environment, society, and the economy.
A wide range of topics related to ESG, including government policies and regulations, corporate practices and reporting, investment strategies, and stakeholder engagement, were covered throughout the event.
In the inaugural session , Usha. P.T., General Manager of NABARD, Hyderabad, highlighted the contemporary nature of the ESG topic and the challenges faced by communities worldwide in achieving sustainable development.
Dr. J.V.N.Reddy, Advisor of Aurobindo Pharma, Hyderabad, shared his thoughts on ESG and emphasized the importance of sustainability in all industries.
Dr. Divya Keetrthi Gupta, Incharge Director of GITAM School of Business, chaired the session and highlighted the growing importance of ESG in corporate strategies, investment decisions, and societal progress.
The conference provided a platform for diverse perspectives and expertise, fostering meaningful conversations and discussions on the challenges and opportunities in the ESG realm, she said.
The conference will continue on Saturday, with further discussions on implementing ESG practices, the role of technology, and emerging trends in ESG policies and regulations.(UNI)
