HP’s Hamirpur turns into a hotbed of COVID-19
Hamirpur(HP), April 9: Notwithstanding timely and effective steps being taken by the district administration, the dreaded CORONAVIRUS was spreading fast in the district of Hamirpur and it has caused problems to the administration and the common people both.
The situation has reached such a pass that no day passes without the detection of twenty to thirty cases from the interiors of the district and most of them were the women and children aged between zero years to 18 years. This has led the state government and the district administration both to ban the opening of educational institutions for about two weeks more.
As per earlier orders, the educational institutions other than where examinations are going on were closed till April 15th. However, the government was going to revise it and delay the opening by fifteen days more.
In the Hamirpur district, the number of active cases that were zero in the first week of February has reached 436 as of Friday morning out of total positive cases of 3,867 positive cases. Fifty-three have already died and the number of cured cases was 3,377.
The detection of more cases has come through the RT-PCR test and that is considered to be the most suitable way to detect the CORONA patients.
With the latest directions of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to go in for more COVID-19 tests, the number of the people tested would be more as compared to what was going on till Thursday, said a spokesman of the health department.
He said that instruction had been issued to the field staff as well as to the staff of the local Medical College to conduct more tests and release their reports accordingly to identify the number of positive cases prevalent in the district.
The spokesman said that most of the positive cases were either the primary contacts of the old patients or those who were coming from the nearby states where the COVID-19 had created havoc to the religious places of the district and that has created problems for the people of the Hamirpur.
Sources say that the state government is considering a proposal to see negative COVID-19 certificates from the people visiting the state from other parts of India and to tell them that they would have to abide by the COVID-related guidelines during their tour in the state.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur who had talks with the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on Thursday had an online talk with the Deputy Commissioners and the Chief Medical Officers of the state and told them to be strict against the COVID defaulters. He told them to deal with such people strictly and ensure that the field officers were on job to tell /teach the people that the violation of the COVID-19 guidelines were against them and they should abide by them for their own interests and welfare.
On other hand, the district police have started steps on war footing to nab those that were without face masks and were not obeying the COVID-19 guidelines in the district.
Sources in the district police told UNI today that around two hundred such people were booked during the last forty-eight hours for the violation of COVID-related guidelines.
In the meantime, the district administration has ended containment zones in forty-eight places of the district and was going to create about the same number of zones today as sixty-nine more cases were found alone on Thursday and they belong to different parts of the district. (UNI)
