Vijayawada, April 12: A home guard allegedly shot dead his wife with a service revolver at their house in Gollapudi near here on Monday.
ACP (West Zone) Hanumantha Rao told the media here that the accused home guard Vinod Kumar was working as an assistant to ASP Seshibhusan.
The ASP went to Anantapur three days ago and he had given his service revolver to the Home Guard.
The home guard preserved the revolver in his house. An Altercation took place between the home guard and his deceased wife Ratnaprabha on mortgaging gold jewelry.
In a fit of rage, the home guard fired one round at his wife with the revolver.
The bullet pierced through her chest. The neighbors shifted her to the government general hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
Police registered a case, shifted the body for postmortem, and arrested the accused. (UNI)
