Historic Vijaya Spoorthi Sthupam at Pedapudi Gram Panchayat is Embodiment of PR System in AP
Tirupati, Dec 19 : Pedapudi Gram Panchayat (GP) of Amruthalur Mandal in Guntur District is having very noteworthy and historical significance in the annals of Panchayati Raj system in Andhra Pradesh state by way of erected 25 feet Vijaya Spoorthi Sthupam, reminiscence by the speakers at an interactive session held here on Saturday.
To mark the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav, the Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India (AGRASRI), an ICSSR recognised research organisation, has organised an interactive session with the elected representatives , policy makers, researchers, freedom fighters, youth and officials through zoom platform.
The Pedapudi Vijaya Spoorthi Sthupam is a sacred place of 16 eminent freedom fighters of Guntur District for their Satyagraha and imprisonment during India’s freedom movement, include Kalluri Chandramouli, who played an active role and responsible person for an enactment of historic Madras Village Panchayats Act of 1950, said Andhra Pradesh state Panchayati Raj Additional Commissioner and Institute of Rural Development Additional Director Dr. M. Sudhakara Rao at interactive session.
He assured that the Pedapudi Spoorthi Sthupam would be documented as reference to the future elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions in Andhra Pradesh during Capacity Building and Training Programmes, as source of inspiration on the PR system.
The Soorthi Sthupam is having historical significance and source of inspiration to many policy makers in Panchayati Raj for bringing reforms in this area and present younger generation would imbibe the spirit and objectives of the reformers of PR system in delivering good governance at the time of 75th anniversary of India’s Independence, said Andhra Pradesh Rural Development Deputy Commissioner Dr. V.
