Goa CM holds meeting with police, revenue officials regarding enforcement of Covid 19 norms

Panaji, April 27 :  Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday held a meeting with the Goa Police and Revenue officials to ensure stricter enforcement of Covid 19 norms in the state.

Speaking to reporters, he said he instructed the police officials of the state which included Director General of Police (DGP), IG and Police Inspectors and instructed them to strictly enforce Covid 19 norms.

He said he had asked the officials to enforce the norms without affecting economic activities. ‘Activities at public places have to be stopped. Told the officials clearly that economic activities should not be disturbed. Weekly markets will be allowed provided social distancing and other norms are followed,’ he said.

He said fines for not wearing masks would not be increased. ‘It is Rs 200 and will remain same,’ he said.

The Chief Minister said he had personally spoken to manufacturers of vaccines in Pune and asked them to provide the vaccines to the state on priority basis.

He said the vaccines would be given to the people above 18 years of age after their availability.

Dr Sawant also held meeting with revenue officials regarding enforcement of Covid 19 norms.

The state has currently 16,591 active cases of Covid 19 while 1086 people have succumbed to infection.(UNI)
