Girl student allegedly murdered by jilted lover

Hyderabad, Feb 25: In an appalling incident, a girl student was brutally murdered allegedly by her jiled lover at Ravipadu village in Narasaraopet mandal in the district on Wednesday and the accused surrendered himself to the police.

Police said that the deceased K Anusha (19) was studying graduation at a private college. The accused Vishnuvardhan Reddy, who was also studying at the same college, took the deceased girl to the outskirts of the village on his motorcycle on the pretext of speaking with her personally.

He suddenly pounced upon her and strangulated her to death. Later he threw the body into Govindapuram major irrigation canal. Later, the accused went to the police station and surrendered before the police.

The body was retrieved from the canal and shifted to the government hospital for postmortem. The police suspect that strained love affair was the motive for the brutal murder of the girl.

Meanwhile, kowning the gruesome incident of brutal murder of girl students, large number of studetns, relatives and social activists rushed to the government hospital. Later the irate students and activists went in a rally with the body to the Palnadu bus station and staged a dharna demanding justice to the parents of the girl. The students and activists demanded Rs.1 crore compensation to the bereaved family.

Tense situation prevailed at the bus station area in Narasaraopet town as the agitating students and activists insisted that the district Collector and Superintendent of police should come to the place and assure them personally that justice would be done to the bereaved family. Meanwhile, leaders of TDP and Left parties rushed there and extended solidarity to the agitating students.

Telugu Desam Party National General Secretary and MLC Nara Lokesh strongly condemned the ghastly murder of degree girl student Kota Anusha in Narasaraopet today and demanded deterrent punishment to the persons responsible for her death. (UNI)
