Gadkari would rather join the well than the Congress.
Bhandara/Nagpur, June 17 : Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has claimed that a politician once advised him to join the Congress party to which he answered that he would rather die by jumping into a well than joining Congress.Addressing a gathering in Maharashtra’s Bhandara district on Friday to mark completion of nine years of Narendra Modi government, Gadkari recalled his initial days of working for the BJP and talked about the party’s journey.He claimed that late Congress leader Shrikant Jichkar once advised him that he is a very good party worker and leader and if he joins the Congress, he will have a bright future.To this, Gadkari replied that he would rather jump into a well than join the Congress as he has strong faith in the BJP and its ideology and will continue to work for it.The senior BJP leader also claimed that his party carried out twice the amount of work in the country in the last nine years as compared to what the Congress did in the 60 years of its rule.”In the last nine years, the BJP government has done twice the amount of work that the Congress could not carry out in the 60 years of its rule,” Gadkari claimed .Slamming Congress, the veteran BJP leader further said during Congress’ 60 years of rule, it used the slogan to eliminate poverty, but opened a series of educational institutions for personal gains.Gadkari said people should learn from the past for the future.(UNI)
