Fresh Covid cases go up to 48 in UT

Puducherry, Oct 16 :The new Coronavirus cases have gone up to 48 in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM, on Saturday, after 37 cases were recorded on Friday.

With this the infection tally rose to 1,27,344. No deaths were reported during the period and the death toll remained at 1,849.

The fresh cases have been reported after 3,823 swab samples of persons tested yesterday.

As many as 27 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, nine in Karaikal region, one in Yanam region and 11 in Mahe region.

Sixty one persons were discharged in the last 24 hours. Among them, 48 were from Puducherry region, ten from Karaikal region and three from Mahe region.

Presenty, 71 patients were treated at hospitals in Puducherry region, 12 in Karaikal region, five in Yanam region and 10 in Mahe region.

Another, 500 persons undergoing treatment in home isolation in all the four regions of UT after they had tested positive for Covid-19.

So far, 1,27,344 persons are infected by Coronavirus and of which 1,24,897 patients were treated and discharged, 1,849 people died and presently there are 598 active cases.

The test positivity rate in the UT is 1.26 per cent, case fatality rate 1.45 per cent and the recovery rate is 98.08 per cent.

As many as 10,69,817 doses of Covid vaccine were so far administered to healthcare workers, frontline workers and the general public in the Union Territory.(UNI)
