Former UNI Editor ‘TVS’ dead
New Delhi, Jan 10 : Veteran journalist T V Satyanarayanan, who worked with the United News of India (UNI) for 23 long years until retiring in 1995, passed away here Today due to old age complications, his family said. He was 86.
Having joined UNI in April 1972, TVS, as he was widely known, for long specialized on agriculture. He later became the head of domestic and overseas services in the agency.
He was also in-charge of the Economic Service and Backgrounders. He was made the Editor in September 1987.
Born on July 7, 1935, the soft-spoken TVS travelled to numerous countries including Afghanistan, Indonesia and China and was part of the Indian President’s delegation to Ireland and Yugoslavia in 1982.
TVS is survived by his wife Leela Satyanarayanan, son T S Vishwanath, formerly with the Economic Times, and daughter Vidya,
TVS came from a family of journalists. His two elder brothers were T V Parasuram, who was the Washington-based correspondent of PTI, and T V Venkitachalam, who was with PTI for many years before he left to join the National Herald where he retired as Editor in Chief.(UNI)
