Foreign Secretary Shringla in Dhaka, calls on Foreign Minister and Transport Minister

Dhaka/New Delhi, Dec 7 : Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla Today called on Bangladesh Foreign Minister A.K. Abdul Momen and Transport Minister Obaidul Quader, during which the two sides held wide ranging talks on the growing bilateral cooperation.

Shringla, who is on a two-day visit to Dhaka ahead of President Ram Nath Kovind’s state visit on December 15-17, also held talks with his counterpart, Masud Bin Momen.

He is to call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina tomorrow.

The Indian High Commission in Dhaka, in tweets, said:

“Foreign Secretary @harshvshringla called on Bangladesh Minister for Road Transport & Bridges and Awami League General Secretary H.E. Obaidul Quader MP.

“Discussed our all-encompassing bilateral cooperation including connectivity. Reiterated importance of this special year jointly celebrating #MaitriDiwas,” it posted with the hashtag #NeighbourhoodFirst.

On his meeting with the Bangladesh Foreign Minister, it posted:

“Foreign Secretary @harshvshringla called on Bangladesh FM H.E. Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen.

“Reviewed wide-ranging and growing cooperation between two countries including our #Covid cooperation.

“Expressed satisfaction on the successful joint celebration of #MaitriDiwas.”

He also held talks with his Bangladeshi counterpart.

“Foreign Secretary @harshvshringla met his counterpart Flag of Bangladesh FS Masud Bin Momen

“Discussions reflected on progress in bilateral ties on all fronts in this special year marking 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India & Bangladesh.”

India’s relationship with Bangladesh is one of the strongest pillars of its ‘Neighbourhood First Policy’. In this special year, India and Bangladesh are jointly commemorating 50 years of the establishment of their diplomatic ties.

Foreign Secretary’s visit to Bangladesh, a day after the Maitri Diwas celebrations, will provide an opportunity to review the wide-ranging cooperation between the two countries, an official statement said.(UNI)
