For Kirtankars and Warkaris in Maharashtra, Mukhyamantri Warkari Corporation

MUMBAI, JULY 15 :  As the journey of Vithuraya (Lord Vitthala) of Pandharpur and Ashadhi Ekadashi approaches after two days, the government has given a big happy news for all the devotees of the state.

The government has taken a big decision to establish “Mukhyamantri Varkari Mahamandal” to provide facilities to Kirtankars and Warkaris in Maharashtra state, and the government decision of the social justice department in that context was released on Sunday night, according to the official press statement.

As per the decision, the headquarters of this corporation will be in Pandharpur.
The state has a long tradition of Varkari Sampradaya. Devotees from villages in Maharashtra go to Vari every year. Vari mainly consists of workers, laborers, and farmers. But due to the increase in the number of Dindis over time, careful planning of flood management has become important.

For this, the concept of Warkari Corporation has come up, and in the meeting of the State Cabinet held on July 11, 2024, it was decided to establish “Chief Minister Warkari Corporation.”.

For hundreds of years, there has been a sacred tradition of pilgrims walking through Dindi to see Panduranga Vitthala in Maharashtra. Development of pilgrimage sites, Kirtankars, food for pilgrims, security, and medical assistance.

“Mukhyamantri Warkari Mahamandal” will work to provide facilities like insurance coverage, infrastructure, etc. and implement welfare schemes.

Among them, mainly solving the problems of Warkari Sampradaya, improving all palkhi (Palanquin) ceremony routes, and giving subsidy to Warkari Bhajani Mandal for bhajan and kirtan materials.

Pandharpur, Dehu, Alandi, Muktainagar, Saswad, Pimpalner, Trimbakeshwar, Paithan, Kolhapur, Shegaon, Tarakeshwar, Bhagwangad, Agastirishi Sant Savata Mali Samaj Temple Aran Taluka Madha District Solapur, and other pilgrimage sites will be developed through this corporation.

Along with this, steps will also be taken to make Chandrabhaga, Indrayani, Godavari, and other rivers free from pollution through the corporation, the statement added.(UNI)
