Fifth IAC to begin from Tuesday at PJTSAU

Hyderabad, Nov 22 : The five-day fifth International Agronomy Congress (IAC) will be held at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University from November 23.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Monday, Dr V Praveen Rao, Vice Chancellor PJTSAU and the President of IAC said that about 1300 participants are registered to participate in this five-day international congress.

He said that the IAC on “Agri-Innovations to Combat Food and Nutrition Challenges” is being organised jointly by Indian society of Agronomy, New Delhi and PJTSAU, Hyderabad.

He said that there are fourteen sub-themes in the conference–Climate resilient agriculture and Ecosystem services, Integrated farming system for sustainable peasant economy, Agronomic innovations for tapping genetic potential, New vistas in biotic and abiotic stress management, Secondary agriculture and farmers prosperity, Soil-plant-animal and human health continuum, Big data for smart agriculture, Conservation agriculture, Smart mechanization and energy use, Agronomic education: a paradigm shift in the offing, Advances in soil-microbes-plant-water and environmental interactions, Perspective in organic agriculture, Innovative delivery system for agronomic technologies, Farmers-scientists interface and Scientist –industry-farmer interface.

The conference consists of different plenary lectures, invited lectures, paper and poster presentations and exhibition. Eminent scientists from around the globe will be delivering their lectures during the conferences, he said.

Few of the prominent name includes Prof Rattan Lal, World food prize Awardee, Prof J.J Volenec, President, American Society of Agronomy, Prof P.V Vara Prasad, President, Crop Science Society of America, Dr Jacqueline d’Arros Hughes, Director General, ICRISAT, Hyderabad.

Around 1300 participants have registered for the conference in which about 600 participants are attending in physical mode while 700 participants will be attending through virtual mode. There will be around 1000 poster presentations along with 50 oral and rapid presentations.

Apart from these, 14 keynote, 49 lead and 8 plenary lectures are scheduled during the conference. This congress will provide a platform by bringing the national and international researchers together for an open and candid dialogue on current status of science, innovations, and solutions to various challenges in our agri-food systems, he added.

Dr Rao said that the crop diversification is one of the important topic which discussed across the countries. This conference is learning platform for all the scientists about the latest technologies and advancements in the field of agronomy and crop sciences, he said.(UNI)
