Farmers yet to get last year crop insurance: BJP to Mah govt
Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Jun 7 : Maharashtra BJP Today alleged that the Maha Vikas Aghadi government has not paid last year’s crop insurance to the farmers.
The representatives of the ruling party have grabbed the crop insurance in the name of farmers, BJP spokesperson Ram Kulkarni alleged.
“The central government had paid their share. Even though last year’s insurance has not yet been disbursed while farmers are reeling from the Corona epidemic,” he said.
“In Marathwada, farmers have paid insurance worth crores of rupees. Moreover, when the monsoon was coming to an end, last year there was a heavy downpour and crops in all the districts also remained within 50 percent. While farmers took loans from moneylenders, many paid for insurance by selling their jewellery,” he said.
“The central and state governments also paid their participation funds to insurance companies. However, the insurance companies have deliberately held the farmers hostage and the insurance has not been distributed due to technical reasons,” he said.
“When Devendra Fadnavis was the government in the state, he distributed insurance in abundance for five consecutive years by accepting documents,” he stated.
Accusing the Thackeray government of taking an “anti-farmer” stance on the issue, he alleged, “The authorities are behind the non-distribution of insurance to the farmers. The insurance has gone down the throats of the insurance companies.”
He urged the MVA to release the money at the earliest.(UNI)
