Farmers observe Black Day in Hoshiarpur

Hoshiarpur, May 26 :To mark six months of protests at the borders of Delhi seeking repeal of the three farm laws, farmers today observed black day across the district.
They staged demonstration, protest marches and burnt effigies of the Prime Minister at several places in the district. Farmers and their supporters put up black flags a top of their houses at several villages.
Farmers and mazdoors led by Manjit Singh Rai, State President, BKU (Doaba), staged protest demonstration, raised anti-government slogans at local Purhiran By-pass Chowk, led by Kuljinder Singh Ghuman, District President, Kandi Kisan Union Punjab, at Chabbewal, led by Comrade Harbans Singh Sangha at local Sutehri Road, led by Onkar Singh, active member, Azad Kisan Committee Doaba, at Toll Plaza, Lachowal, led by Gurwinder Singh Khangoora, District President BKU (Rajewal), at Sham Chaurasi, led by Jangveer Singh, President, Doaba Kisan Committee, at Toll Plaza, Cholang, led by Ranjit Singh, District Vice President, Doaba Kisan Committee Block Dasuya, at Hajipur Chowk, Dasuya, Surjit Singh Billa, active member, Pagri Sambhal Jatta Lehar Punjab at Toll Plaza, Harsa Mansar.
Addressing on the occasion all the leaders said that they were observing Wednesday as a ‘Black Day’ to mark six months of the agitation. They urged the Central government to accept their genuine demands failing which they would further intensify their agitation.
According to official sources members of various farmers and Mazdoor unions holding black flags, banners and placards in support of their demands and against the Union government, staged protest dharna and demonstration at 29 places in the district.
Farmers and their supporters took out a motorbike and car march at villages Garhi Matto, Khunda, Nangal Khiladian, Bhikhowal.
Farmers carrying black flags led by Comrade Gurmesh Singh Kakkon, state committee member, Kul Hind Kisan Sabha and some other supporting organisatons took out a foot march from local Improvement Trust Market to District Administrative Complex.(UNI)
