Extremely heavy rainfalls likely in Maharashtra, Goa

Pune, Sep 28 : During the next 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls likely at isolated places over Goa, Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Marathwada, the IMD predicted today.
In the same period, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning very likely at isolated places over Maharashtra and Goa states.
Also, squally weather likely along and off north Maharashtra coast, the forecast added.
A similar weather prediction was made on Monday, which came into reality as flood situation has arisen in Marathwada while vigorous monsoon continues to pound several parts of Maharashtra.
Thunderstorm observed (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0830 hours IST of today) at many places over Saurashtra and Kutch and at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Jharkhand, Assam, Meghalaya and west Madhya Pradesh; at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Bihar, Marathwada, Gujarat Region, West Bengal, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Telangana, Madhya Maharashtra and north interior Karnataka.
The monsoon has been vigorous over Saurashtra, Kutch, Marathwada, Vidarbha and Telangana; active over Odisha, east Rajasthan, Gujarat Region, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal Karnataka, north interior Karnataka and Kerala.
While, it has subdued over Arunachal Pradesh, east Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Rayalaseema.
Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Saurashtra and Kutch, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, coastal and north interior Karnataka, Kerala and Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at many places in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, east Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Gujarat region and Lakshadweep and at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Uttarakhand, west Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh and south interior Karnataka and at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rayalseema and Tamil Nadu.
Mainly dry weather prevailed in Punjab, Jammu-Kasmir and Ladakh.(UNI)
