Election Commission puts a 48-hour stop to KCR’s campaigning.
NEW DELHI/HYDERABAD, MAY 2 : The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday imposed a 48-hour ban on BRS President and former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao from engaging in any public activities, including meetings, processions, rallies, and media appearances.
The period of ban started from 8 PM on May 1.
The decision comes in response to a complaint filed by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Senior Vice President G Niranjan, regarding derogatory remarks made by KCR against the Congress party and its leaders during a media conference in Siricilla last month.
The ECI found KCR’s explanation regarding the violation of the model code of conduct unsatisfactory, leading to the temporary suspension of his campaigning privileges.
KCR, a prominent campaigner for the BRS, will be prohibited from participating in any public engagements for the specified duration. (UNI)
