Eighty lakh students denied fee reimbursements and scholarships for 2 years: Dr Chinta Mohan
Tirupati, Sep 26 : Former Union minister and Congress working committee special invite Dr Chinta Mohan charged the Andhra Pradesh government of not providing scholarships and fee reimbursements for over 80 lakh students in the state for the last 2 years using Covid situation as an excuse.
Stating that he was also a scholarship student like Dr Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram, the senior Congress leader said the former prime minister Indira Gandhi has introduced ST/ST/ BC and minorities scholarships.
In a media statement here, Dr Chinta Mohan said he had earned scholarships from 6th standard to MBBS.
While he got Rs 18.59 at Class VI, it rises to Rs 32 in Class VIII and full mess charges in the college.
He said during the 1974 scholarship agitation during Vengal Rao regime, he received lathi charge blows as well.
He said the students of Andhra Pradesh will face a crisis as educational institutions open up for annual exams in the Covid free environment soon
He demanded the state government to explain when universities will open classes and also where the government had diverted the scholarship funds shared by the Centre all these years.
He also appealed to the government to ensure payment of all arrears of Scholarships, full mess bills, pocket money and fees reimbursements before November 1 without fail and protect the future of all students of Andhra Pradesh during the academic year.(UNI)
