ECI notifies about the upcoming Telangana Assembly election

HYDERABAD, NOV 3 : The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday released an official notification marking the commencement of preparation for November 30 Telangana Legislative Assembly election.

As per the notification,nominations will be accepted from November 3 to November 10, while scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on November 13, the deadline for withdrawing nominations is November 15, polling is set to occur on November 30 and counting of votes will transpire on December 3.

The election process will complete by December 5.

Telangana boasts of a substantial electorate of 3,17,17,389 eligible voters, composed of 1,58,71,493 men, 1,58,43,339 women, and 2,557 individuals who identify as the third gender, according to the official statement from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).

The current term of the Telangana Legislative Assembly concludes on January 16, 2024. The election will span 35,356 polling stations throughout the state, comprising 14,464 urban stations and 20,892 rural stations.

The total number of legislative assembly seats is 119.

Voting will take place from 07:00 AM to 05:00 PM, except for five assembly constituencies (Sirpur, Chennur (SC), Ballampalli (SC), Macherial, Asifabad (ST), Khanapur (ST)), where polling hours will be from 07:00 AM to 04:00 PM.

So far, BRS has announced candidates for 117 seats, the Congress party for 100 seats and the BJP for 88 seats and an active campaign is already underway for all parties.(UNI)
