Dy CM Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar launches Oxygen On Wheels service

Panaji, May 23 : Considering the criticality of oxygen for COVID patients during the second wave of COVID-19, Goa Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar Today arranged for a van with five oxygen concentrators powered by two generators and emergency medicines.
Inaugurating the service, Mr Kavlekar said, “The concept behind this is that no life should be lost even in rural Goa. Every life is precious and we have learnt from the Cyclone Taukte that even during worse COVID times, we have to be prepared for even worst situation that may arise due to lack of power and transport.”
He said, “Learning from the experiences we decided to get this custom fitted van all the way from Mumbai. This van will serve not only the Quepem taluka, but also Canacona, Sanguem, Dharbandora and Salcete. The rural patients should not suffer during critical times he said and people can call any of our helpline numbers that are manned 24 hours to avail the service.”
Quepem Municipal Council Chairperson Suchita Shirvaikar thanked the Dy CM for his whole hearted gesture of supporting COVID patients through the COVID step up centre that is functional in Quepem.
“Dy CM has not left any stone unturned to get the best what was possible for COVID patients in this centre in Quepem. Patients have access to 24 hours doctors including visits by private consultant Doctors, water dispensers with water filters, 50 oxygen beds with saline if required, free meals, free medicines. This has helped to save precious lives and also reduce burden on the Govt health machinery,” she said.(UNI)
