Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 3 :The 9th convocation of Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) at Valiyamala here will be on Saturday.
Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, Chairman, Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Secretary, Directorate of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D) will be the Chief Guest and will deliver the convocation address.
Dr. B N Suresh, Chancellor, IIST will preside over the function. Dr K Sivan, Chairman ISRO, President, IIST, Governing Body, will address the function. The report on IIST activities will be presented by S. Somanath, Director, IIST.
A total of 223 students will be awarded. 106 students will be awarded B.Tech degrees, 89 students will be awarded M.Tech degrees and 12 students will be awarded PhD degrees. 16 students of Dual Degree program will be awarded a degree in their specialization.
Gold medals will be awarded to the first rank winners in UG and PG programs. The Certificate of Excellence Award and Cash Prize will be presented to the students who have excelled in academic, curriculum and extra-curricular activities.
