Dr Raut to visit Chiplun tomorrow

Aurangabad / Mumbai, Jul 28 : To take stock of the large-scale damage caused to power supply due to recent torrential rainfall in Konkan region of the west coast of the state, Maharashtra Energy Minister Dr Nitin Raut will visit Chiplun town in Ratnagiri district on Thursday.

Due to torrential rains, MSEDCL’s power systems in Konkan and Western Maharashtra have been severely damaged, resulting in disruption of power supply of 9.60 consumers from 1,927 villages and towns.

Repair works are being carried out on the war footing and the power supply of 6.5 lakh consumers has been restored so far and in other areas will be restored soon, an official press statement stated on Wednesday.

The minister will visit Kherdi in Chiplun taluka, Vashishti river bridge area and Muradpur, where the repair and restoration work is going on and will interact with the MSEDCL workers to know their problems.

While lauding the performance of MSEDCL employees in such situation, Dr Raut had instructed the MSEDCL management to immediately provide materials and manpower for repairs in affected areas.(UNI)
