Delay in multi-crore project prolongs Aurangabad’s water woes : MP Jaleel
Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Dec 15 : AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel Today expressed his displeasure over the delay in the completion of mega project meant to resolve water woes of this city.
Under the Maharashtra Golden Jubilee Urban Development Campaign, a corpus of Rs 1,680 crores was sanctioned for revamping the water supply infrastructure of Aurangabad.
Concerned over slow pace of the project, MP Jaleel also penned a letter to the Chief Engineer of the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran, a government organisation involved in water works.
The parliamentarian not only sought to know the present status of the project but also demanded to hold monthly review meetings for regular updates.
In the same context, he also shot a letter to Aurangabad Municipal Corporation Administrator Astik Kumar Pandey.
Speaking on the issue, the parliamentarian said, “If the work of water supply is not completed within the stipulated time, the citizens of Aurangabad city will once again be deprived of getting abundant water on time.”
He continued, “The water supply projects, approved under this scheme, should have been completed within the stipulated time without compromising on quality.”
“However, the work is being done as per the wishes of the contractor, not within the prescribed time as mentioned in the work order given by the government,” he alleged.(UNI)
