Dawood Ibrahim’s brother remanded to ED custody for 7 days

Mumbai, Feb 18 :A special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court on Friday sent Iqbal Ibrahim Kaskar, younger brother of fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar, to Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody for seven days for his alleged involvement in a money laundering case. Earlier, ED took custody of Iqbal Kaskar from Thane Jail in connection with an alleged money laundering case registered against Dawood Ibrahim and his aides. Recently, the central agency had conducted searches at various premises related to Dawood Ibrahim, including the son of his sister Salim Fruit, who is closely related to the gangster’s close aide Chhota Shakeel. Fruit was also detained after the search and questioned for many hours, before he was let off. ED has filed the case based on a case registered by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) against Dawood Ibrahim, after the agency learnt that he had been financing money through hawala channels to his aides for creating unrest in the country through terror activities, sources added.(UNI)
