Daily new COVID-19 cases decrease in UT in past 24 hours
Puducherry, Jul 5 :The daily fresh Coronavirus cases have decreased in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours with 128 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded, ending at 10 AM, on Monday, while the fatality number remained same like yesterday.
On Sunday, 172 COVID-19 cases and one death had been reported.
With the new cases, the COVID-19 infection tally rose to 1,18,087 and death toll to 1,762.
According to COVID-19 status released by the health department here, of the 5,597 swab sample tests conducted on July 4, 128 persons tested positive for the virus.
As many 101 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, seven in Karaikal region, three in Yanam region and 17 in Mahe region.
About 262 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours and 224 of them were from Puducherry region, 21 from Karaikal region, 12 from Yanam region and five from Mahe region.
Presently, 202 patients are being treated in Puducherry region, 35 in Karaikal region,16 in Yanam region and 30 in Mahe region.
Another,1,588 persons tested positive for COVID-19 and taking treatment in home isolation in all the four regions of the Union Territory.
So far, 1,18,087 persons were infected by Corona virus and of which 1,14,454 patients were treated and discharged, 1,762 people died and 1,871 patients were undergoing treatment in hospitals and home isolation.
A 89-year-old man Venkataraman with Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension a comorbidity succumbed in Jipmer here yesterday due to Covid pneumonia and severe ARDS.
The test positivity rate in the UT stood at 2.29 per cent, case fatality rate is 1.49 per cent and recovery rate is 96.92 per cent.
As many as 5,28,360 persons including healthcare workers, frontline workers and general public were given COVID vaccine so far in the Union territory.(UNI)
