Cyclonic circulation over bay, TN to get more rains for next 4-5 days

Chennai, Nov 22 : The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast increase in rainfall activity over south peninsular India, including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Kerala/Mahe from November 25 due to a cyclonic circulation over the bay of bengal, which will move towards TN coast in the next 4-5 days.


Met office said on Monday that a cyclonic circulation lies over Southeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood in lower tropospheric levels. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards towards Tamil Nadu coast during the next 4-5 days.


A trough runs from the cyclonic circulation Southeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood to Tamil Nadu coast in lower tropospheric levels.


Under its influence, light to moderate scattered/fairly widespread rainfall will occur over Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next five days.


Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next five days and over Kerala and Mahe and isolated very heavy rainfall also very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on November 25 and 26.
An orange alert has been issued to these places for these two days.(UNI)
