Cyclone alert sounded by Coastal Guard in Mangalore coastal belt
Mangaluru, May 12 : Cyclone alert has been sounded by Coastal Guard in Mangalore Coastal belt following low pressure in the Arabian Sea and it is likely to develop into a cyclone which is named as ‘Tauktae’.
In a public announcement Coastal Guard and navy personnel have appealed to all fishermen to return to the nearest port at the earliest and also not to venture into the sea . They stated that the sea is becoming rough and a cyclone may strike the shore on May 13 and 14. Hence fishermen, who have ventured into the sea for fishing are requested to return to the nearest port.
According to meteorological department Coastal regions of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu as well as Lakshadweep are expected to receive moderate rainfall under the influence upto May 16. Wind speed is likely to be 40 to 50 kms per hour.(UNI)
