Cybersecurity is at the forefront in Telangana, according to Dr. Jayesh Ranjan
HYDERABAD, NOV 10 : Dr Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary – Industries & Commerce and Information Technology, emphasized Telangana’s pioneering role in formulating a robust Cyber Security Policy.
The state, under the leadership of its IT Minister, has successfully implemented comprehensive measures to protect against cyber threats, maintaining an unblemished record to date.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Cyber Security Summit 2023 organized by CII Telangana, themed “Cybersecurity for the Next Generation: Empowering Digital Citizens,” Dr Ranjan highlighted the state’s commitment to cybersecurity, tracing it back to the launch of Digital India nine years ago.
He underscored the Prime Minister’s vision to fortify defenses against cybersecurity threats, with Telangana standing out as a trailblazer in this regard.
Dr Ranjan also emphasized the government’s dedication to promoting cybersecurity awareness at the grassroots level in rural areas, including the implementation of a cybersecurity course for graduate students. He called upon industries to innovate affordable solutions tailored for MSMEs.
In his welcome address, C Shekar Reddy, Chairman of CII Telangana and CMD of CSR Estates Ltd, outlined CII’s Data Privacy initiatives. These initiatives include the establishment of the CII Centre of Excellence on Digital Transformation, a collaboration with Protiviti to raise awareness about the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023.
Reddy also highlighted the ongoing CII National Survey on Data Privacy and introduced CYBER RAKSHA KAVACH 2023, an initiative focused on assessing risks and ensuring a secure digital journey. The EVOLV™ initiative, led by CII, aims to equip entrepreneurs with a global playbook, fostering a network of innovative tech startups to drive technological progress and economic growth.
Sanjeev Deshpande, Convenor of CII Telangana Digital Transformation, IT & Startups Panel, and Managing Director & CEO of NTT Data Business Solutions, emphasized the necessity of a robust cybersecurity mechanism for industry digitalization. While larger organizations are adapting, he stressed the importance of MSMEs considering cybersecurity as integral to business success.
