CPI slams center for GST on Fabrics & Chappals

Tirupati, Dec 31 : Communist Party of India (CPI) National secretary Dr K Narayana Today  condemned the Modi government for imposing a 5 per cent to12 per cent GST on fabrics and chappals and thereby posing livelihood problems on weavers community across the country.

Addressing media at CPI office here, he castigated Center for slapping 12 per cent GST on Cotton fabrics and found fault with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy silence even after Telangana Minister K T R’ s bouncers on BJP government.

He said the Center move on chappal’s will be a death blow to jobs of thousands of cobblers, and that only corporate companies like Reliance will be benefited.

In lighter vein he said the state BJP leader Somu Veeraju who declared BJP to offer cheap liquor at Rs 50 could as well be rotated as Sara Veeraju and charged that BJP was spreading communal tensions in state for sake of political gains.

He alleged that the BJP leader had demanded Rs 3 crore from Kalki ashram to provide relief from recent raids.

He also said that the CPI will lead the process of coming together of CPM and CPI and also strive to set up a broad anti BJP front in future.

Cautioning that BJP rout in UP was a certainty , the CPI leader also slammed the Modi government for hoisting cases on social reformer Sonu Sood.
