Covid19 cases rise in Meghalaya
Shillong, July 10 :The number of daily Covid19 cases in Meghalaya has been on the rise with 24 new cases of infection increasing the number of active cases to 100, even as six more cases of recovery from the viral infection surged the number of recovered cases to 92422 on Sunday, health officials said.
The state has so far registered 94117 confirmed COVID-19 cases including 1595 cases of fatality.
The number of active Covid-19 cases went up to 49 in the most pandemic-hit East Khasi Hills, which includes state capital Shillong with the district accounting for 12 new cases of infection besides four cases of recovery from the viral disease on Sunday, as per official statistics.
The West Garo Hills reported eight new cases with the number of active cases in the district going up to 31, followed by Ri-Bhoi with two new cases with the number of active cases in the district at 14, while one new case each were reported from West Jaintia Hills and East Jaintia Hills with the districts having four and one active case respectively, as per the latest official case count.
“Eight Covid-19 infected patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals in the state,” an official in the health department said, adding that six out of the total 12 districts in the state had no active Covid-19 case as on date.
On the other hand, 32139 health care workers have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, 29502 have been administered with the second dose and 9946 have taken the third precaution dose, while 97027 front-line workers have been vaccinated with the first dose, 85707 have received the second dose and 29001 have got the precaution shot, even as 1301215 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose, 948456 have been fully vaccinated with the second dose and 10068 citizens have taken the booster dose across the state as on date.
