Puducherry, Feb 20:As many as 29 more persons were tested positive for Coronavirus Disease (COVID 19) in the last 24 hours ending at 10 AM on Saturday taking the tally of active cases to 188 in the Union Territory.

No deaths were reported during the period.

According to the Covid 19 status for Saturday released by the health department,of the 1590 swab tests taken yesterday,29 tested positive for the virus.12 new cases were reported in Puducherry region,three in Karaikal and 14 in Mahe region.18 persons were discharged in the alst 24 hours.16 of them were from Puducherry region and one each from Karaikal and Mahe regions.Yanam region is Covid free now.


Presently, 82 persons are being treated in Puducherry region,two in Karaikal and 11 in Mahe region.Another,93 positive cases are under home isolation in Puducherry,Karaikal and Mahe regions.

So far 39566 persons were tested positive for the virus of which 38716 were treated and discharged and 662 died leaving 188 active cases here.

The case fatality rate in the UT is 1.67 percent and recovery rate 97.85 percent.



As many as 8458 persons (8051 health care workers and 407 frontline workers were administered the Covid vaccine so far in the union territory. (UNI)
