COVID: Jammu Univ postpones exams; GMC Rajouri cancels leaves of medical staff
Jammu, Jan 11 : In view of a spike in the COVID positive cases, Jammu University on Tuesday postponed all the examinations while Government Medical College and Associated Hospitals canceled the leaves of all medical staff.
Jammu and Kashmir today reported 1148 fresh positive cases including eight of Omicron variant and two deaths.
As per University Spokesman, Dr Vinay Thusoo, the conduct and mode of examinations of all PG/PGDBM/B.Ed. examinations are under active consideration of the University administration. Meanwhile, all PG (all subjects of second and fourth semesters), PGDBM (2nd Semester), B.Ed. (2nd Semester), and B.Sc. Nursing (3rd year) examinations (ongoing and which were scheduled) stand postponed.
“Given an increase in the number of COVID cases and the representations received from the students, parents, and other stakeholders regarding the start and mode of examinations following which, a meeting of the high-level committee was held under the Chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu,” said Thusoo.
He said that the fresh dates and the mode of examination shall be announced shortly.
Meanwhile as per an order issued by the Government Medical College, Rajouri, in view of sudden upsurge of COVID-19 and Omicron Cases, any kind of leave except maternity leave and leave taken in view of extreme medical exigencies in favor of all the staff via Faculty, Doctors, Paramedical Staff and other clerical staff of Govt. Medical College and Associate Hospital, Rajouri are canceled and all such employees shall resume their duties.
Further the winter vacation of faculty members stands canceled and all the faculty members on vacation shall resume their duties without fail, said an order.(UNI)
