COVID: 94 new cases in UT in the past 24 hours

Puducherry, Sep 24: Union Territory of Puducherry has recorded 94 new Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM today, taking the infection tally to 1,25,920.

No deaths were reported during the period and the death toll remained at 1,834.

On Thursday, 91 new COVID-19 cases had registered.

According to the Covid-19 status released by the health department here, of the 4,836 swab sample tests conducted yesterday, 94 persons tested positive for the virus.

As many as 65 new cases were reported in the Puducherry region, 25 in the Karaikal region, and four in the Mahe region.

In the last 24 hours, 107 persons were discharged and 52 of them were from the Puducherry region, 44 from the Karaikal region, four from the Yanam region, and seven from the Mahe region.

Presently, 87 patients were being treated at hospitals in the Puduchchery region, 21 in the Karaikal region, two in the Yanam region, and 12 in the Mahe region.

Another 834 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 were undergoing treatment in home isolation in all four regions of the Union Territory.

So far, 1,25,920 persons are infected by Coronavirus and of which 1,23,130 patients were treated and discharged, 1,834 people died, and there are 956 active cases as of date.

The test positivity rate in the UT is 1.94 percent, the case fatality rate is 1.46 percent and the recovery rate is 97.78 percent.

As many as 9,51,265 doses of the Covid vaccine were administered to the healthcare workers, frontline workers, and general public so far in the UT. (UNI)
