Covid : 43 new cases in UT in past 24 hours
Puducherry, Nov 20 : As many as 43 fresh Covid-19 cases have been reported in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM on Saturday, taking the Coronavirus infection tally to 1,28,631.
No fatalities were reported during the period and the death toll remained at 1,869.
According to Covid-19 status released by the health department here, of the 2,124 swab sample tests conducted on Friday, 43 persons tested positive for the virus.
Nineteen new cases were reported in Puducherry region, 16 in Karaikal region, seven in Yanam region and one in Mahe region.
In the last 24 hours, 40 persons were discharged and 23 of them were from Puducherry region,13 from Karaikal region, and two each from Yanam and Mahe regions.
Presently, 49 persons are being treated at hospitals in Puducherry region, 11 in Karaikal region, five in Yanam region and nine in Mahe region.
Another, 243 persons diagnosed positive for Covid were undergoing treatment in home isolation in all the four regions of the Union Territory.
So far, 1,28,631 persons are infected by Coronavirus, of which 1,26,445 patients were treated and discharged, 1,869 people died and presently there are 317 active cases in UT.
The test positivity rate in the UT is 2.02 per cent, case fatality rate is 1.45 per cent and the recovery rate is 98.30 per cent.
About 11,72,390 doses of Covid vaccine were so far administered to the healthcare workers, frontline workers and the general pubic in the UT.(UNI)
