COVID : 30 new cases in UT

Puducherry, Mar 5 :Union Territory of Puducherry has recorded 30 new Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM on Friday, taking the tally of infection cases to 39,824.

No deaths were reported during the period.

According to the COVID-19 status released by the health department here, 13 new cases each were reported in Puducherry and Karaikal regions and four in Mahe region.

About 20 persons were discharged since the last 24 hours and 9 of them were from Puducherry region, four from Karaikal region, and seven from Mahe region.

Presently, 54 patients are being treated in Puducherry region, ten in Karaikal region, two in Yanam region and five in Mahe region.

Another, 105 persons taking treatment under home isolation in all the four regions of the union territory after tested positive of COVID-19.

So far, 39,824 persons were infected by the virus and of which 38,979 patients were treated and discharged, 669 people died and 176 patients were undergoing treatment in hospitals and home isolation.

The case fatality rate in the UT is 1.68 per cent and the recovery rate is 97.88 per cent.

As many as 14,535 persons were vaccinated in the UT. This include 10,398 healthcare workers, 2,495 frontline workers and 1,642 general public who are abouve 60 years. (UNI)
