Covid : 264 new cases, one death in UT in past 24 hours
Puducherry, Jun 30 : The daily COVID-19 fresh cases went up in the Union Territory of Puducherry Today as compared to yesterday with 264 persons tested positive for Coronavirus, ending at 10 AM this morning, while the fatalities have come down with only one death reported.
On Tuesday, 196 new Coronavirus cases and 3 deaths had been recorded.
With this, the infection tally has risen to 1,17,249 and death toll to 1,749 in the UT.
According to the Covid-19 status released by the health department here, of the 8,098 swab sample tests conducted on June 29, 264 persons tested positive for the virus.
As many 207 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, 40 in Karaikal region, two in Yanam region and 15 in Mahe region.
About 254 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours and of them, 199 were from Puducherry region, 37 from Karaikal region and 18 from Mahe region.
Presently, 280 patients are being treated in Puducherry region, 38 in Karaikal region, 25 in Yanam region and 27 in Mahe region. Another, 1,984 persons tested positive for COVID-19 were taking treatment in home isolation in all the four regions of the Union Territory.
So far, 1,17,249 persons were infected by Corona virus and of which 1,13,146 patients were treated and discharged, 1,749 people died and 2,354 patients were undergoing treatment in hospitals and home isolation.
A 70-year-old man Janarthanan with no comorbidity died of Covid Pneumonia and ARDS in Puducherry region yesterday.
The test positivity rate in the UT stood at 3.26 per cent, case fatality rate is 1.49 per cent and recovery rate is 96.50 per cent.
As many as 4,93,657 persons including healthcare workers, frontline workers and general public were given COVID vaccine so far in the Union Territory.(UNI)
