COVID : 196 new cases, three deaths in UT in past 24 hours
Puducherry, Jun 29 : The daily Coronavirus cases recorded a slight increase in the Union Territory with 196 persons tested positive for COVID-19 and three deaths reported in the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM, Today compared to 144 fresh cases and one death on Monday.
With this, the COVID infection tally rose to 1,16,985 and death toll to 1,748.
According to the Covid-19 status released by the health department here, of the 8,710 swab sample tests conducted yesterday, 196 persons tested positive for the virus.
As many as 146 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, 25 in karaikal region, eight in Yanam region and 17 in Mahe region.
About 327 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours. Of them, 243 were from Puducherry region, 41 from Karaikal region,11 from Yanam region and 32 from Mahe region.
Presently, 302 patients are being treated in Puducherry region, 32 in Karaikal region, 23 in Yanam region and 28 in Mahe region. Another, 1,960 persons tested positive for COVID-19 and taking treatment in home isolation in all the four regions of UT.
So far, 1,16,985 persons were infected by Corona virus and of which 1,12,892 patients were treated and discharged, 1,748 people died and 2,345 patients were undergoing treatment in hospitals and home isolation.
Three persons died due to Covid related issues. Two of them succumbed in Puducherry region and one in Karaikal region.
The test positivity rate in the UT stood at 2.25 per cent, case fatality rate is 1.49 per cent and recovery rate is 96.50 per cent.
As many as 4,86,879 persons including healthcare workers, frontline workers and general public were so far given COVID vaccine in the Union territory.(UNI)
