COVID-19: Telangana records 161 new cases, one more death

Hyderabad, Nov 8 : Telangana added 161 new COVID-19 cases Today, pushing the cumulative caseload of the state to 6,72,650.

COVID-19 deaths surged to 3,967 after one patient succumbed to the deadly virus during the last 24 hours translating a case fatality rate of 0.58 per cent, according to the bulletin issued by the Office of the Director, Public Health and Family Welfare here tonight.

A total of 174 people have recovered from coronavirus statewide in a span of 24 hours taking the overall recoveries thus far to 6,64,933 constituting a recovery rate of 98.85 per cent.

The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 3,750 the bulletin said.

As many as 37,844 samples were tested in the state during the past 24 hours out of which the results of 978 swab samples are awaited.

Cumulatively, 2,78,35,158 COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the bulletin said.

Among the districts, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) was the main contributor of the infection by registering a maximum of 50 new cases during the last 24 hours, followed by Medchal-Malkajgiri & Khammam(12).

The day’s remaining coronavirus cases have been registered by other districts, the bulletin added.(UNI)
