COVID-19: Massive spike of new cases continues in AP, 64 die
Vijayawada, April 27 : The massive spike of new cases continued in Andhra Pradesh as a whopping 11,434 fresh cases were reported today while 64 more patients died.
A health bulletin here on Tuesday said 74,435 swab samples were diagnosed in a period of 24 hours ending at 9 am today of which 11,434 were tested positive for Coronavirus while 64 more patients died. The total number of deaths has gone up to 7,800.
The highest number of new cases 2028 were reported in Guntur district, 1982 were reported in Chittoor district, 1322 cases in Srikakulam district, 1067 cases in Visakhapatnam district and 1237 cases in Nellore district. There are 99,446 active cases in the state now.
The total number of positive cases has risen to 10,54,875 while 9,47,629 patients have been discharged from various hospitals as they recovered. So far 1,61,43,083 swab samples have been diagnosed in AP.
Meanwhile, scarcity for beds in various government hospitals continued today also and a large number of patients were seen waiting outside of the hospitals for getting admitted. Some patients were seen in ambulances and auto rickshaws waiting outside the government hospitals for getting admitted. However, The relatives of the patients said to the media that the hospital’s authorities told them that it might take four to six hours to admit them into the hospital.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy reviewed the Covid situation with the district Collector and Superintendents of police through video conference.
The Chief Minister directed them to take steps to provide beds to the patients in hospitals within three hours of calling 104 call centres. He asked them to take steps to work 104 call centres efficiently and exten more services to needy people.
The Chief Minister directed the Joint Collectors to take steps to provide medicines at free of cost to the Coronavirus patients and supervise proiding of facilities in the Covid hospitals. The Chief Minister also reviewed the ongoing vaccinate drive.(UNI)
