Vijayawada, May 29 :Andhra Pradesh is witnessing a downtrend in the registering of fresh Coronavirus positive cases as 13,756 new cases have been reported in a period of 24 hours while the deaths of a large number of patients continued.

A health bulletin here Today said that 79,564 swab samples were diagnosed during the past 24 hours and of which 13,756 people were tested positive for COVID-19 while 104 patients died.

The pandemic has claimed the lives of 10,738 patients so far.

There are 1,73,622 active cases in the state while 20,392 patients had recovered since the last 24 hours.

The highest number of fresh cases 2,155 was reported in Chittoor district while 2,301 cases was reported in East Godavari district.

The total number of positive cases has spiked to 16,71,742 while 14,87,382 patients have been discharged as they had recovered.

So far 1,90,88,611 swab samples have been diagnosed in the state, the bulletin added.(UNI)
