COVID-19: 180 more cases in Puducherry

Puducherry, April 5: The spike in COVID-19 cases continues in the union territory as 180 people tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours, official data released on Monday stated.
It further showed that the overall infection tally here stands at 42,539 as no deaths were reported in Puducherry during this period.
As per the latest COVID-19 data released by the health department, 2,702 swab tests were taken yesterday, in which 180 tested positive for the virus.
144 new cases were reported in the Puducherry region, 31 in the Karaikal region, two in the Yanam region, and three in the Mahe.
As many as 95 persons were discharged during the past 24 hours. 60 of them were from the Puducherry region, 34 from the Karaikal region, and one from the Mahe region.
Presently 329 persons are being treated in the Puducherry region, 50 in the Karaikal region, seven in the Yanam region, and four in the Mahe region.
Another 1,287 positive cases are under home isolation in all four regions of the Union Territory.
Till now, 42,539 persons have been infected by the virus in the UT, out of these 40, 178 have been treated and have been discharged while 684 died leaving 1677 active cases here.
The case fatality rate in the UT is currently 1.61 percent and the recovery rate stands at 94.45 percent.
As many as 80,629 persons have been given the Covid-19 vaccine in the UT so far., this includes 28,211 Health Care Workers, 16,270 frontline workers, and 36,148 people from the general public. (UNI)
