NEW DELHI, JUNE 9 :   MERI College of Engineering and Technology successfully organised a Consumer Outreach Programme in collaboration with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on 7th June 2024.

Sh. R. R. Meena, ITS Joint Advisor TRAI, along with Sh. Sanjiv Meena, ITS Senior Research Officer and Cyber Cell expert from Jhajjar police, were present at the event. Mr. Hitesh Danda, President of the Haryana Technical Association, senior representatives from consumer advocacy groups, and representatives from all telecom operators in Haryana, including Jio, BSNL, Airtel, and Voda Idea, also graced the occasion with their presence.

Prof. Lalit Aggarwal, Vice-President of the MERI Group, conveyed his message for the event through a video. Dr Prof. Tapash Dey delivered the welcome address, while Prof. (Dr.) Umesh Gupta congratulated all participants for attending and benefiting from the programme. The event saw an attendance of over 300 participants, including faculty, staff, and students.

The seminar provided in-depth knowledge about consumer rights in various aspects of telecom services, such as tariffs, value-added services, data services, unsolicited commercial communications, mobile number portability, and complaint redressal mechanisms. Attendees were also introduced to the benefits of TRAI-developed mobile apps like the TRAI My-Speed app, TRAI My-Call app, and the DND 2.0 app for consumer empowerment. Emphasis was placed on creating awareness and vigilance to protect against cyber frauds and scams.

The event was marked as a great success, with active participation from representatives of Jio, Airtel, VI, BSNL, students, and faculty.(UNI)
