Bailhongal, May 3 : In an apparent attack on the nexus between Congress and SDPI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said efforts are being made by the Congress to change the identity of Karnataka by making it the biggest base for appeasement.
“Unity is the biggest formula for the development of Karnataka. The kind of conspiracy being hatched against Karnataka today, efforts are being made to change the identity of Karnataka. The way Congress has made it the biggest base for appeasement,” he said while addressing a public rally in poll-bound Karnataka here.
Therefore, Modi asked people to be careful about the Congress party’s efforts to change Karnataka’s identity. “Only the solidarity of your people will defeat the Congress and its like-minded people,” he said.
Earlier, SDPI National General Secretary Elyas Thumbe said the party wanted to contest 100 seats, but dropped the plan as the ground situation looked fertile for Congress to win and for BJP to lose the election.
SDPI is contesting only 16 assembly seats as of now.
Modi said the people of Karnataka have to be careful of the “shortcut governance” of the Congress and JDS. “This shortcut governance gave birth to vote-bank politics in the country. Whenever a party does this sort of politics, they think of dividing the society, just like Congress,” he said.
He said due to this very shortcut politics, thousands of villages didn’t have electricity after so many years of independence.
Modi said the Congress leaders repeatedly abuse Veer Savarkar and spread lies against him, because glorification of the royal family is the only agenda for them. “They cannot worry about the sacrifices of the ordinary family, and their sorrows and happiness. That’s why they repeatedly abuse Veer Savarkar ji, spread lies against him,” he said.
The PM said that the Congress also did not even spare Dr BR Ambedkar “When Baba Saheb Ambedkar was alive, they insulted him repeatedly,” Modi said.
Modi said Congress cheated in the name of guarantee, but it was BJP that fulfilled it.
“In 2004, the Congress had given a guarantee regarding electricity and had said that in 3-4 years, every house in the country would be given electricity, but in 2014, I saw that electricity had not reached more than 2.5 crore houses. Electricity connection was given to every family in the country within a very short time,” he said.
Modi said dues of sugarcane farmers used to be a big problem during the Congress rule, but the BJP government also worked on its permanent solution.
He said Karnataka has decided to give an absolute majority to the BJP which can be attributed to the trust of the youth, marginalized, and women in the BJP. “Almost every family in Karnataka has benefitted from the welfare scheme of the government,” he said.
Likewise, crores of Indians didn’t have a roof over their head, bank accounts and tap water connections, he said, adding, “However, the BJP is working to get rid of shortcut governance with the vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”
Modi said the accountability of the Congress leaders is towards the royal family in Delhi. “The royal family controls the leaders through its remote control,” he said.
PM also said that JDS is a private limited company and its accountability is towards the owner of the family. However, for the BJP, every family in Karnataka is its family and it has an accountability towards the people, he said.
Modi said Congress and JDS have been rejected everywhere. “Congress-led government is only present in three states of the country. In the 2018 elections, more than half of the MLAs of JDS hailed from only three districts, and these districts have also decided to get rid of these parties,” he said.
In the last 9 years, BJP laid a lot of emphasis on making ethanol from sugarcane, but Congress neither had any thought about it nor had the right intention for it, he said.
Modi said there is excitement and enthusiasm all around and only one slogan is being heard – “E Bariya Nirdhara, Bahumatda BJP Sarkara.”
He said the BJP has a road map for the future to make Karnataka the No. 1 state in the country. “In Karnataka, where once the rail and road were in a bad condition, now airports and modern railway stations are being built there,” he said.(UNI)
