Cong is criticized by Kishan Reddy for failing farmers.
HYDERABAD, JAN 3 :Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy criticised the Congress government in Telangana for failing to deliver on its election promises, particularly those made to farmers.
Speaking to the media at the BJP state party office, Reddy accused the Congress of misleading voters and not addressing critical issues affecting the state.
Reddy highlighted that before the assembly elections, senior Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, extensively campaigned across Telangana, making numerous promises. However, he claimed that none of these promises have been implemented, leaving farmers and other citizens disillusioned.
“The Congress government is busy celebrating its victory but has failed to bring any substantial change to the lives of people who trusted them,” Reddy said. He added that while the Congress claimed to represent change, the only visible transformation is within its leadership, not in the lives of the people.
Reddy alleged that the Congress government, like its predecessor BRS, has indulged in corruption. He claimed that Congress ministers are now exploiting resources, echoing the practices of the previous regime.
He also accused the Congress of failing to honour the promises made in the Warangal Rythu Declaration, including financial assistance under Rythu Bharosa and bonuses on key crops.
The BJP leader expressed concern over the plight of farmers in Telangana, accusing the Congress government of ignoring their struggles. He criticized the partial implementation of loan waivers and the failure to provide promised bonuses on crops like cotton, maize, and paddy.
Reddy alleged that the Congress government has entered into agreements with rice millers to sell grain below the Minimum Support Price (MSP), causing significant losses to farmers.
Reddy also accused the state government of neglecting to purchase grain at MSP, leaving farmers’ produce to rot in market yards. He pointed out that the central government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been transparent in procuring grain and providing subsidies to support farmers, while the state government has failed to cooperate.
Highlighting the Modi government’s initiatives, Reddy said that despite rising fertilizer prices due to global challenges, the central government has ensured farmers are not burdened. He cited the significant subsidies provided on fertilizers like urea and DAP and mentioned that Telangana farmers receive a fertilizer subsidy of Rs 33,000 crore annually.
Reddy criticised the Congress government for delaying the implementation of the Comprehensive Crop Insurance Scheme and accused it of creating unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles to prevent farmers from availing the benefits.
Reddy announced that the BJP’s Kisan Morcha would organize protests in the second week of January, submitting petitions to district collectors and mandal officers to demand the fulfillment of promises made to farmers.
“The Narendra Modi government stands by its promises to farmers, unlike the Congress government, which is running a racket in the name of applications,” Reddy stated.
He called on the Congress government to implement all its promises to farmers and ensure justice for the agrarian community.
