Conclude internal enquiry soon over Jagan’s appointment as permanent president:ECI

HYDERABAD/VIJAYAWADA/NEW DELHI, SEP 21: Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday ordered that the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party should conclude the internal enquiry at the earliest over the appointment of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy as ‘permanent President’ of YSRCP.

ECI Secretary Jaydeb Lahiri in an Order said it had written a letter to YSRCP on July 19, 2022, on the allegation of Jagan Mohan Reddy being appointed as a permanent President of Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party and sought comments from the party by July 22.

It said a reminder on the same matter was sent on August one and five drawing attention to pending references and it was stating that the delay in responding “adds credibility to the said allegation.”

Subsequently, another reminder was sent on August 18 in response to a meeting request with the Election Commission of India.

The Order said, Whereas, the reply of the party dated August 23 informing of the “unanimous” election of Reddy as President of the Party on July 8 and 9 , 2022, did not categorically admit or deny the specific allegation as forwarded in the Election Commission of India’s reference of July 19 regarding the Chief Minister being made permanent President for life.

Whereas, further reference is invited to the party’s letter dated September 11, in which Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party has furnished the documents pertaining to amendment in Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party Constitution on February 7, 2022.

Whereas, in the said reply, the allegation regarding the appointment of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as permanent President of Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party was addressed.

It was confirmed that the said matter was reported in the media and that the party has launched an internal enquiry in this regard.

Further, the necessary action on the same will be taken by the Party on finding the facts, the Order said. (UNI)
