Come back to work: Pawar-Parab duo appeals to MSRTC strikers

Mumbai, Jan 10 : Maharashtra Transport Minister Anil Parab and NCP chief Sharad Pawar Today  gave a clarion call to the MSRTC striking workers, appealing to them to end their long-drawn agitation.
Addressing a joint press conference, the duo asked the agitators to end the ongoing 78-day-long agitation and come back to work.
“Once the strike was called off, we will think over employees’ demands,” both the leaders assured, promising that no action will be taken against the agitators if they resume work.
On the strikers’ demand of merging MSRTC into state enterprises, Mr Pawar said, “The issue was pending before the Bombay High Court and it won’t be right to talk about it now.”
In the past too, CM Uddhav Thackeray and other leaders have made earnest appeals to end the strike which has mostly impacted rural commuters.
As the striking workers didn’t pay any heed to the government calls, the MSRTC went into action mode and terminated 1,144 employees and suspended 11,024 others.(UNI)
