Chandrayaan-3’s accomplishment has encouraged ISRO, who are preparing for the PSLV communications mission on July 26.
Chennai, July 19 :Buoyed by the successful launch of India’s thirdLunar mission Chandrayaan-3 on Friday last, the Indian Space ResearchOrganisation (ISRO) is gearing up for a commercial mission using itsversatile and workhorse launch vehicle PSLV on July 26.ISRO sources said PSLV-C56 with seven satellites, including the primarypayload, the 351.9 kg earth observation satellite DS-SAR (SyntheticAperture Radar) from Singapore–will take off from the spaceport ofSriharikota on Wednesday next.The launch will take place from the First Launch Pad and ISRO scientistsare busy with the mission preparations, back into action just barely daysafter the third Lunar mission Chandryaaan-3’s successful injection into theprecise Orbit.ISRO said it would be using a ‘core alone’ variant of the PSLV for theJuly 26 mission.Apart from DS-Sar, the PSLV will carry piggbyback Arcade (23.58 kg),Velox-AM (23 kg) and Orb-12 Strider (12.8 kg) and three nano satellitesweighing less than 10 kg each as payloads in this commercial mission.The three nano satellites are the Galassia-2 (3.84 kg), SCOOB-II (4.1 kg)and NuLIon (3.05 kg) which would be placed in a Low Earth Orbit (LEO).(UNI)
